I have constipation all the time from taking pain medicine, what is something I could take to become regular?

I have already tried laxatives, laxative w/ stool softeners, and Miralax, is there anything natural I could take or maybe a combination of a few things? I feel bloated all the time and when I do have a bowel movement it seems incomplete. I would like to know how to cleanse my colon, but the natural way.

The pain medicine you speak of causes your digestive tract to stop moving. This allows more water to be absorbed, and results in constipation. You need to take stimulant laxatives (things like bisacodyl suppositories and senna). While you are taking chronic opioids, you should also be taking something like docusate with senna (the docusate will help keep the stool soft, and the senna will help keep the digestive tract moving–both are necessary). Magnesium citrate is usually quite effective for many people (careful though, if it works, it works QUICKLY–i.e. wait until you get home from the pharmacy to use it). There are a lot of other options; talk with your pharmacist.

Depending on the duration and severity of your constipation, you might need medical attention (to rule out impaction).
