How to naturally cleanse your colon.?

I have been feeling very sluggish lately and have bowel movements once every two days. One of my friends suggested to cleanse my bowels but I am unsure how. How do I cleanse it naturally and keep healthy?

You would be wise to ignore your friend’s advice and consult with people who know what they’re talking about…professionals. If you take care of your colon, your colon will take care of you. And, btw, if you think it’s not clean, don’t worry. Colons are not clean places, dude. Jeeeez!

Your colon cleans itself naturally every second of every day. It’s constantly replenishing itself, working peristaltically to move your chyme through it, dehydrating your feces, and helping you purge the waste matter. I don’t know what “feeling sluggish” means in regard to defecation and defecating every two days is probably normal for you. So, I don’t think you’ve elucidated a real problem. However, if your colon is not doing what you think it should, then either you’re not thinking right or your not eating right.

You might want to consider evaluating how much fiber is in your diet. You need both soluble and insoluble fiber and you’ll get them if you’re eating properly.

Now, here are some words about cleanses.

Detox diets, cleanses, and supplements don’t work. There is no diet which will cause your body to get rid of toxins, heavy metals, poisonous by-products from smoking, drugs, etc. And cleanses for the purpose of weight loss don’t work because they can only eliminate water and small amounts of waste which the body will replace very quickly.

Your body cleanses itself naturally. And cleanses, purges, emetics, enemas, etc. cannot remove fat from your body or make your body lose fat and/or toxins. If fat is your problem, you’re eventually going to realize that nothing works except a proper diet for life or surgery. The best diet for all normal adults hasn’t changed. It is still a varied, balanced, nutritious, and properly apportioned diet of high quality foods.

Detoxification is a fad and a fantasy only. If you have reason to believe you’re toxic, consult with your doctor. Don’t waste your time paying attention to advertising hype, naturopathic gurus, homepathic charlatans, etc. The road to good health is paved with science.
