Do I have an obstructed bowel?

I have not had a bowel movement in over a week. I’ve had IBS symptoms for years. On thursday my belly was so swollen I looked 4 mo pregnant. On Fri. I took a full bottle of Magnesium Sulfate for a colon cleanse, expecting to have major diarreah. On Sat. No movement whatsoever…so I took a Stool Sotftener and gave myself a warm water bag enema. All that came out was the water (a little brown). Today a drank Epson Salt 3tsp to 8oz water (said it should produce a movement in 1/2hr to 6 hours. No luck..So I gave myself a Fleet Bisacodyl Enema which produced more water. I am just not having alot of pain, I have not passed gas, but my bowels are very noisey. I have not tried Ex-lax. Should I try this or go see the Dr? I’m just not sure since I have IBS but have never not had an enema or laxative work?

“Should I try this or go see the Dr?” — See your doctor and, I agree, tell her/him what you’ve tried so far and what the result of each was. I can’t say for certain you have fecal impaction that is causing a bowel obstruction, although I suspect it and an abdominal X-ray would confirm it immediately.

You need an attempt at digital disimpaction but this isn’t something you can do for yourself. I suggest you have some one drive you to an ER. If this doesn’t appeal to you, call your doctor’s after hours number and get some advice. I hope it will be to go to the ER.
