Is using an acai berry supplement and a colon cleanse together as effective as people claim?

Lately I’ve noticed tons of advertisements praising acai berry and colon cleansing as the “new” healthy way to lose weight. So my questions are (a) is it really healthy, or dangerous? and (b) does it work? Frankly, colon cleansing makes me a little nervous–it just doesn’t seem natural, and I don’t have time to be near a bathroom all day. I’d feel okay about taking an acai berry supplement if it would help my metabolism, though, since I take a multivitamin every day already.
